Successful premiere of ‘Sommelier de agua’

Doemens Academy has been offering courses for prospective water sommeliers since 2011. What began as a two-week course in German has become extremely well established internationally in recent years. An English-language course has been held every year since 2016, and even twice in 2024! This was followed in 2019 by a course in Mandarin, designed with our partner Kaiping Culinary School in Taiwan and has been held once a year in Taipei ever since.

In 2024, a Spanish language version was launched for the first time. This was conducted in September 2024 by Rosa Elena Pita Coelho, who comes from Venezuela and successfully completed the water sommelier course at Doemens Academy last year. She is supported – especially in the sensory tastings – by Dr. Peter Schropp, who has been in charge of this area since the start of the water sommelier programme and has gradually expanded it. Participants were enthusiastic about the two-week programme with alternating theoretical and practical units. A further course is planned for 2025.
