Argentina: Patagonia’s Wine Exports Increase by 14%

Patagonia’s wine exports rose by 14.4 percent in the first eight months of 2024, totaling 1.25 million liters, according to data from the Chamber of Exporting Wineries of Patagonia Argentina. This growth, compared to the same period last year, reflects a positive trend in the region’s wine sector, which has expanded for four consecutive years.

The data also shows that Patagonia's wine exports are up 23.9 percent compared to the average over the last five years (2019–2023). Despite this upward trajectory, Patagonia's contribution remains modest, accounting for only 1 percent of Argentina's total wine export volume.

While Patagonia’s wine industry has shown notable growth, Argentina’s wine sector as a whole faces challenges, particularly regarding exchange rate competitiveness. Industry representatives have called for an update to the export exchange rate, given the economic pressures created by Argentina’s ongoing exchange rate disparities.
