Argentina: Sparkling Wine Sales Drop by 28% in 2024

The Argentine Chamber of Distributors and Wholesale Self-Services (CADAM) reported that cider and sparkling wine consumption declined this year, with supermarket sales being the most affected.

2024 was marked by severe economic austerity, which was particularly evident during the year-end celebrations. According to the institution, which analyzes distributor and wholesale self-service data, wineries recorded a 50% drop in sparkling wine sales compared to 2023. The high cost of these beverages led many families to toast with the same wine they had during dinner.

For most wineries, 2024 was a challenging year. The latest data from the National Institute of Vitiviniculture (INV) shows that between January and November 2024, total winery sales recorded an accumulated decline of 1.3%. Specifically, sparkling wine sales saw a sharp 28% decrease over the same period.
