Uruguay: Wine exports reach record levels in 2024

The National Institute of Viticulture (Inavi) reported record growth in Uruguayan wine exports in 2024. Bottled wine exports increased by 40% in volume, reaching 4.64 million liters, while revenue rose by 49%, totaling €19 million.

The number of export destinations expanded by 14%, with Uruguayan wine now reaching 57 countries. Additionally, the number of exporting wineries grew by 8%, bringing the total to 45. The average sale price per bottle also increased for the third consecutive year, rising by 3% to an average of €4 per bottle. Key export markets included Brazil (54% of total exports), the United States (14%), the United Kingdom (4%), and Mexico (3.6%).

Inavi highlighted the participation of over 15 wineries in international fairs, which helped strengthen Uruguay's global presence. Furthermore, the country's wine industry continued to advance its Sustainable Viticulture Program, now encompassing 210 vineyards, 2,300 hectares, and 37 certified wineries.
