United States: Trump threatens 25% tariff on tequila

President-elect Donald Trump announced that he will issue an executive order to impose a 25 percent tariff on all products entering the United States from Mexico and Canada when he takes office.

Meanwhile, tequila consumption grew from 20 million nine-liter cases in 2019 to 30.1 million nine-liter cases in 2023. According to Discus, tequila has increased its volumes in the United States by 294 percent at an average rate of 7.1 percent per year since 2003.
