Peru: National wine production grows

According to data from the Ministry of Production, between 2019 and 2023, national wine production grew at an average rate of 6 percent per year, reaching a volume of 19 million liters last year.

This growth was also driven by the consistent increase in producers, which averaged 4 percent over the last four years, bringing the total to 377 producers, 98.1 percent of which are MSMEs. In 2022, the Peruvian wine sector generated nearly 36,000 jobs, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. Regarding Peruvian wine exports, the Ministry confirmed that in 2023 exports reached 559,000 liters, an increase of 7.4 percent, with the main destinations being the United States, France, and Spain.

“From the Ministry of Production, we remain committed to supporting this sector, particularly MSMEs, which are the heart of the industry. To this end, we have the Ica Agroindustrial Center for Productive Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITE), which has state-of-the-art equipment and is at the service of the sector to boost its competitiveness, quality and productivity,” Sergio Gonzalez Guerrero, Minister of Production of Peru, concluded.
