North America: Bericap takes full control of North American joint venture in strategic acquisition

Bericap, a global producer of plastic and aluminum closures, has announced the acquisition of its partner Amcor Rigid Packaging’s 50 percent stake in Bericap North America (BCNA). This move gives the company full ownership of the entity, which had operated as a joint venture since its establishment in 1997.

BCNA, headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, operates three production sites in Cowpens, South Carolina; Burlington, Canada; and Mexico City. It supplies closures for sectors such as food, beverages, and industrial products. With annual revenues of $200 million, BCNA has been a substantial contributor to the packaging industry in North America.

The acquisition marks a notable financial commitment by the family-owned Bericap, which has framed the move as a key step in consolidating its presence in a critical market. Company officials highlighted the importance of the North American region in their broader global strategy, though financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Observers note that the decision to fully acquire BCNA reflects broader trends in the packaging industry, where manufacturers are seeking to streamline operations and respond more effectively to market demands. The transition to sole ownership may also allow Bericap to pursue its own strategic goals without the constraints of a joint partnership.

The company has yet to detail specific plans for BCNA under its full control but has indicated a continued focus on innovation and customer service. This acquisition, described as one of the largest in Bericap’s history, signals its intent to invest further in the North American market.
