The Heineken Group confirmed that it made a significant investment to increase its beer distribution capacity in the city of São Paulo. The company inaugurated a new distribution center, located in the city of Osasco, located on the outskirts of Sao Paulo, with the aim of serving the metropolitan region of this mega city, which is generating a growing demand for its products.
In announcing the opening of this new space, the group revealed plans to increase the distribution of its products by 50 percent in the metropolitan region of São Paulo in the next three years.
“This new operation will strengthen the service network to respond to the volume growth we had in the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo. We estimate to increase our storage capacity by 30 percent and supply 38 municipalities”, said Bruno Ibargoyen, regional sales director of the Heineken Group, in the statement.
The Osasco distribution center is one of the largest of the Heineken group in the country and has an approximate area of 8,000 m2, with the capacity to store more than 60,000 hl per month.
With the opening of this new center, the Heineken Group plans to employ approximately 180 employees in the sales and distribution areas.
This is the second investment in the state of São Paulo, after increasing the production capacity of Heineken 0.0 non-alcoholic beer at its Araraquara plant.
The Heineken company has also announced that it plans to build a new brewery with an investment of €430 million in the Mexican state of Yucatán and will open at the end of 2025.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has tried to attract business to the less developed states of southern Mexico, to avoid a concentration in the central and northern parts of the country, which have reportedly been preferred by companies due to their proximity to the United States.
The brewery, which will be based in the city of Kanasin, will be the eighth factory in the country and will produce the Tecate, Dos Equis, Indio, Bohemia, Amstel Ultra and Sol brands.
According to the release, the new brewery will also operate with minimal waste of raw materials and use renewable energy sources.
