The result confirms a positive balance of 118 breweries registered with the ministry, compared to 1,729 at the end of 2023, that is an increase of 6.8% compared to 2022. The city of São Paulo leads the ranking with 410 breweries, followed by Rio Grande do Sul, which had an increase of 25 establishments compared to 2022, thus reaching 335 companies. The other states with more than 100 breweries are Minas Gerais (235), Santa Catarina (225), Paraná (171) and Rio de Janeiro (129). The survey also highlighted that last year 15.4 billion liters of beer were produced in the country, of which 8.2 billion liters were produced in the Southeast of the country. Of this volume, 29.2% were 100% malt beers, while only 0.8% were non-alcoholic beers and 0.3% were beers with reduced alcohol content. Of the volume of beer produced, 99.5% (15.3 billion liters) has Lager-type fermentation. Among styles, light Lagers reached 7.9 billion liters, other categories of Lager (3.752 million liters) and Pilsener (3.6 billion liters).
