Brazil: Heineken opens first glass recycling center in Pernambuco

The Heineken Group, in partnership with Ambipar, has inaugurated Brazil’s first glass processing center in the city of Jaboatão dos Guararapes. The center is designed to receive, classify, and process post-consumer glass packaging.

The facility will focus on providing proper treatment for glass waste, with plans to sell the processed material to the glass industry. The recycling center is located at Heineken's Igarassu Brewery in Pernambuco. The company has also announced plans to establish a second recycling hub in Bahia. In 2023, the Heineken Group invested €200 million in the Igarassu Brewery to expand its pure malt portfolio, with a focus on the Amstel brand.
