Argentina: Wine exports to the United States reach €170 million

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Argentina's wine production surpassed 8.4 million hectoliters in 2018, with promising forecasts for the future. In both 2017 and 2018, Argentina led wine production in Latin America, followed by Chile and Brazil, supported by a vineyard area of approximately 218,000 hectares.

The Mendoza region concentrates most of Argentina's grape cultivation and wine production. Among wine varieties, red wine varietals — particularly Malbec, Bonarda, and Cabernet Sauvignon —are the most widely produced based on cultivation area.

In 2023, the United States was the primary destination for Argentine wine exports by value, totaling over €170 million. The United Kingdom ranked second, with exports valued at €100 million. In organic wine exports, Denmark was Argentina's main trading partner in 2019, followed by Sweden, with these two Scandinavian countries importing over 40 percent of Argentina's total organic wine production.
